It is believed that 20 out of the 24 Tirthankaras attained Nirvana (liberation) at this location. The Pilgrimage (Vandana) Overview: Distance & Duration: The complete Vandana is a 27 km (approx. 17 miles) trek that typically takes about 10–12 hours to complete as a round trip. Sacred Points (Tonks): The trek involves visiting various Tonks (small temples with marble footprints) dedicated to the Tirthankaras, including the highest point, the Parasnath Tonk. Starting Point: Most pilgrims begin their ascent from the base town of Madhuban.
